SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER

Responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Contributes and facilitates in a formal presentation for a project

  • Always promotes the highest level of professionalism and ethics

  • Develops and facilitates the start of new projects with a good understanding of the estimate and unit costs

  • Develop instructions to bidders and complete bid packages and estimate new projects with a good understanding of unit costs

  • Provides direction to other Project Engineers

  • Manages the submittal process including compiling, submittal, maintenance and distribution of submittals and submittal log

  • Manages the RFI process, including composing, submittal, and distribution of RFI's

  • Reviews plan updates, including identifying changes and providing notifications to clients

  • Compiles and submits change orders including detailed cost breakdown, cover letter, and T&M tags through knowledge and research of cost of work and communication with field personnel

  • Records and maintain Change Order Request (COR) log

  • Follows-up and resolves change order requests

  • Coordinates and distributes paperwork from field to office staff and vice versa

  • Reviews subcontractor quotations, issues subcontracts, and coordinates with subcontractors

  • Reviews job cost reports and tracks labor hours and job cost to budget

  • Enters accurate data into Work-In-Progress (WIP) forecast spreadsheet

  • Reviews construction schedules

  • Updates schedule of values for monthly billing

  • Performs project management responsibilities on smaller projects or portions of a larger project such as: write and administer subcontracts; prepare cost forecasts

  • Maintains contact with the client representative

Requirements for this position include the following:

  • 5+ years of experience as an engineer or project engineer in the construction industry possessing solid experience with healthcare, corporate office, life science/technology or education construction projects.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Extensive training and solid understanding of the technical and business aspects of construction project management.
